![]() ![]() The goal of oral fluid intake should be about 2000 ml per day. Measures to improve hydration status should take into account the patient's ability to drink and retain fluids by mouth, preferences for certain fluids, and whether hot or cold drinks are preferred. Patients at risk for profound and potentially fatal fluid volume deficit, as in severe burns, should be assessed frequently for mental acuity status and orientation to person, place, and time. The patient may complain of thirst and the body temperature may be elevated. The mucous membranes are dry, as is the skin, which loses its turgor. ![]() Other objective assessment data include hypotension and a decrease in venous filling and in pulse volume and pressure. The urine appears concentrated and is usually well below the criterion of 50 ml of output per hour. If there is a fluid volume deficit, intake and output measurements can give evidence of fluid imbalance. Recording daily weight gives information about the amount of water gained or lost each day. In the absence of other problems, the serum sodium should remain within normal limits. Assessment of the patient's hydration status includes monitoring lab data for such signs as increased packed red blood cell volume, increased plasma protein level, elevated specific gravity of urine, and increased blood urea nitrogen (BUN) out of proportion to a change in serum creatinine. Insufficient intake of water can be caused by nausea, immobility with inaccessibility of water, and lack of knowledge about the necessity of adequate fluid intake. Etiologic factors include active loss through vomiting, diarrhea, gastric suctioning, drainage through operative wounds and tubes, burns, fistulas, hypermetabolic states, and drug-induced diuresis. The lungs excrete about 400 ml per day.Ī deficit of fluid volume occurs when there is either an excessive loss of body water or an inadequate compensatory intake. About 300 ml of water diffuse through the epithelial cells daily. The remaining 700 ml are lost through what is called insensible water loss, which takes place by diffusion through the skin and by evaporation from the lungs. About 1400 ml are lost in urine, 200 ml in feces, and 100 ml in sweat. When a person engages in normal physical activity and the environmental temperature is 20☌ (68☏), the body loses about 2400 ml of water in 24 hours. Their deception is revealed by, who confronts Laquadia accompanied by a surprisingly alive Vhazar. Crayden and Laquadia had planned to use the Lizardmen longer and betray them at a later time. Laquadia is used as an ambassador when Crayden sends her to meet with the Lizard King, the ruler of the Lizardmen whom Crayden had used to stage the assault on Caimridge. Laquadia is left frustrated, vowing that one day she will successfully seduce her brother. Crayden however, turns down her advances and reacts as if it was not the first time she has tried. This is called into question when she attempts to seduce him. It is unclear if her support of her brother is genuine, or if she merely wishes to manipulate him as well. This instead led to the complete collapse of the tribe, near extinction of the Val'Toras and supposed death of Vhazar himself. By seducing Vhazar, she convinced him to try and forcefully expand the territory of his tribe. Crayden offered Laquadia's hand in marriage to Vhazar, the leader of the Val'Toras. She played a key role in Crayden's betrayal of the Val'Toras. While amassing her own power via donations and Paladins through the Jadeite Order, Laquadia is also a proactive participant in her brother's schemes for power. Laquadia's "almighty Lord" is in fact the Serpent God. Elder Zi'Tiki of the Neifu reveals that the Hikari Artifact is one of two pieces created by the Serpent God and that Laquadia's goal was to channel "spiritual energy" into it. At some point, she had the necklace forcibly put on a dancer, Young Farah, at the adult club Heavenly Fate. Laquadia sent Devon to the Fellhorn Ruins to find and retrieve the artifact. Laquadia also has an obsession with the Hikari Artifact, which seems to be an integral part of her plans. Even though her "large breasts are very sensitive," she seems to have no problem letting her pet slither around her body and squeeze them. Laquadia has a pet King Benordh Snake, a species thought to have gone extinct in ancient times. Laquadia's vanity is outweighed only by her arrogance, as she personally visits the prison to taunt and belittle the innocent inmates. If anyone refuses to accept her bribes, they are locked away in the deepest level of Darkthorn Keep. Laquadia goes to great lengths to hide this truth from the public by bribing families with the money gathered through donations. Young women who fail to become priestesses are sold into slavery or given to monsters to be used as breeding tools and playthings. Laquadia explains that to "be directly touched by the almighty Lord would leave anyone changed." Paladins undergo significant physical and mental changes when promoted. The also promotes soldiers from the Beldorian Army to become Paladins, holy warriors who directly serve the Jadeite Order and therefore Laquadia herself. ![]() They take in young girls to become priestesses, while using charm and seduction to attract donations from men. She is very proud of her voluptuous body and is idolized as both a sex symbol and religious leader. At every open environment I always expected to hear those thunderous footsteps that made me jump when playing Half-Life. (Remember this was to be a Dreamcast exclusive.) It's disappointing that none of the really big aliens show up. The aliens are all here - but no new creatures or aliens from Opposing Force appear. Everyone raved about the opening sequence of Half-Life and those people should also remember the lone guard pounding on a door as the car whisks Freeman to his job. Looking at the car reveals Gordon Freeman on his way to work. First clue: Barney pounds on a door only to have the guard on the other side saying, "Just a minute, there's something wrong with the door." As Barney stands there a transport car passes. There's no mistaking that BS is part of the Half-Life universe. You'll even catch glimpses of Freeman and the mysterious guy in the black suit. When playing Half-Life: Blue Shift (BS) it helps to understand the history of how it came to the PC. The maps were created by designers with credits for games such as Quake, Thief II, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, SiN, Unreal and Shadow Warrior. In addition to the two expansion episodes, the original Half-Life: Opposing Force missions, and the High Definition pack, Blue Shift contains a collection of online multiplayer modes OpFor: On-Line that includes team play, deathmatch, and capture the flag levels. In Half-Life: Opposing Force, which was named PC Action Game of the Year in 2000 by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences, you play as Corporal Adrian Shephard, a military specialist assigned to eliminate Freeman. Half-Life: Blue Shift puts you in the role of Barney Calhoun, a security guard and ally of Gordon Freeman (from the original game) who infiltrates the Black Mesa Research Facility to explore previously unavailable areas while dealing with an entirely new storyline. The 3D-accelerated High Definition pack upgrades weapons and characters in the original Half-Life as well as the new episodes. "Of all of our songs, this is one that gets the most response. When Depeche Mode was interviewed about the songs on the '101' CD for the April 1989 issue of French magazine 'Best', Martin Gore said (translated from French): You know, stations out here in Long Island, WDRE, played us, started to play it, on the sort of underground, alternative stations." Quotes from the documentary on the DVD of the Some Great Reward remaster from 2006: The melody that can be heard in the middle of the song is of the children’s Christian song “Jesus Love Is Very Wonderful”. I would think it was then sampled and reproduced from either the Emulator or Synclavier." When Alan Wilder was asked about this on Shunt, he replied: "I can't really remember exactly - you are asking me about a sound made about 14 years ago! So we just took the Stellavox out into the middle of this big, ambient space and miked up the ground and hit it with a big metal hammer. The engineer / producer we use, Gareth Jones, has got this brilliant little recorder called a Stellavox which we use with two stereo mikes and it's as good as any standard 30ips reel-to-reel but this is very small and therefore very portable. All that entailed was us hitting a big lump of concrete with a sampling hammer. We sampled some concrete being hit for what turned out to be the snare sound. In some conditions, you may want to upgrade your Windows 7 to the latest Windows 10, and you can easily perform a standard "Upgrade and Install" to do this upgrade. After Clean Install, the hard disk only contains the new version of the Windows Operating System. ![]() So let’s see how Windows lets you schedule your scripts. What is the clean install? Clean Install is a process to remove the current operating system with a new Operating System installation. Still, it would be great to have some things, such as a backup, happen automatically. We’ve covered the basics of Robocopy, and we can now create scripts to run specific operations on-demand. Robocopy can create log files so that we can confirm that backups are being attempted. Running integrity tests allows you to know that restored data is the same as the original. If we can restore a backup, we know we’ll be safe if we lose something one day. To test that our backup works we need to: The functionality of Robocopy can be controlled with other command options there’s a guide from Microsoft here. And as a final trick, instead of writing a new log for each operation, you can append to existing ones by using the /LOG :FileName syntax. And guess what? You can actually do it from the PowerShell console with the following command rather than heading back to the graphics world, just like this: notepad logfile.txtĪlthough this log gives a written audit trail of what files were copied, it does not confirm the integrity of the files. The name of the log, logfile.txt, allows you to view your text file without modifying it.Īs you saw in the video, if you want to check out a larger file, you can put it in Notepad. To display the contents of the log file, PowerShell has the “type” command - for example: type logfile.txt The log is a standard text file that can be examined in different ways let’s take a look: ![]() Analyze the Logs Analyze the logsĮarlier, we learned how Robocopy can create log files with the /LOG : option. ” If you omit the “.exe,” you will see an error message try it out!Ī more thorough test would be to compare all the restored files against the originals, but that level of scripting is outside the scope of this course. To use the file compare program, you must explicitly specify “ fx.exe. Windows has two “fc” commands one is built into PowerShell (fc), and one is the Windows “file compare” program (fc.exe). Don’t assume that a mismatch always means there’s a problem: fc.exe command output with differences Remember though, if you backed up a document yesterday then edited it today, a file comparison would confirm that they are different. If all goes well, we’ll be told there are no differences: fc.exe command output no differences The integrity test ran a binary (/b) file comparison between one of the restored files and the original: fc.exe /b restore\arial.ttf c:\windows\fonts\arial.ttf Ther earlier backup list check and test restore looked good, but a more definite test is performing a manual file comparison, which is an important part of backup integrity tests. Perform Integrity Tests on the Results Perform integrity tests That’s progress, but how do we know that our backup and restore operations are working as expected? Let’s see how to perform an integrity test to find out. It’s good to know that we could retrieve what we backed up! It’s always good to do restores to a different location than the original, just in case something goes wrong! Once it looked like we had a good backup, we restored it to a test location to check it out. You should expect some differences for a busy source folder, such as one containing documents, due to new and deleted files.Ī long list of files could mean a lot has changed since the last backup, or that something is not right and needs investigating it could be as silly as a typo in the file or folder names, so we’re comparing the wrong files - check for that! To do this, the command used was: robocopy e:\backup c:\windows\fonts /L /NJS /NJH /NDL /FPĪn empty list of differences is a very good sign. The first thing we did was to tell Robocopy to compare a list of the files in the last backup to those in the source folder now. Let’s take a look at how to check our backups and then do a test restore in this video: Let’s start with the first step! Restore Your Backup Restore your backupĬreating a backup is one thing, but what if you want to get something back? And before that eventful day, wouldn’t it be a good idea to check that your backups are working as expected? There are three major steps to take: restoring your backup, performing integrity tests, and analyzing the logs. In this chapter we will learn how to test that our backup works. ![]() ![]() ![]() Great for having a starting group of people.
